I was born in Seoul, South Korea, and studied at Kyung Hee University, where I met Prof. Seunglim Kim and first decided to become an experimental composer.
My work is thematic, and I like to share my opinions (usually satirical) and the audience’s thoughts through my work, and to remind the public of the subject matter. I like to take sounds from my surroundings, whether they are accidentally obtained and found, or electronically generated by myself, or sounds from places that have contextual meaning or significance, and reorganize them to find new concepts.
I mainly focus on expressing various natural, mental and social phenomena through sound and space, music theater compositions and sound installations. Especially in recent years, I try to satirically realize themes related to contemporary social issues in each of my works, or issues that I have actually experienced in my life. To realize this in a poignant way, I use several methods simultaneously and multimedia, including experimental performance, video, and (Live-)electronics, involving not only sound but also different materials and elements.
